Who is Asking?

You know, Sri Ramana Maharshi, that great Hindu sage of modern times? People used to come to him and say ‘Master, who was I in my last incarnation? ’As if that mattered. And he would say ‘Who is asking the question?’

And he’d look at you and say, get right down to it, ‘You’re looking at me, you’re looking out,
and you’re unaware of what’s behind your eyes. Go back in and find out who you are, where the question comes from, why you ask.‘

And if you’ve looked at a photograph of that man–I have a gorgeous photograph of him; I look by it every time I go out the front door. And I look at those eyes, and the humour in them; the lilting laugh that says ‘Oh come off it. Shiva, I recognize you. When you come to my door and say `I’m so-and-so,’ I say `Ha-ha, what a funny way God has come on today.''

At the Very End of Technology...

The Surprise button!
Read or listen to the entire talk at https://www.organism.earth/library/document/122

"...a friend of mine many years ago, who said that Gnosis—which means… I suppose you’d best call it ‘transcendental knowledge’—Gnosis is to be surprised at everything. Because, you see, if you carry out technology to its final fulfillment, you have technological means of supplying you with everyneed or wish that you could imagine. So that you have—instead of just the plain little telephone with its dial on it—you have a somewhat more elaborate machine on which you can dial for anything you need at any time and it’ll be supplied instantly. Imagine yourself in that omnipotent position!...

...And what you will wish for in that final, ultimate push-button world will be a button labeled Surprise! You won’t know what’s going to come when you dial that one. And Chesterton’s fundamental attitude as a poet, as a theologian, was that even God needs a surprise and, of course, for that very reason endowed angels and men with the mystery of free will: so that they would do things that would be surprising and that could not be foretold."

The Wedding of Spiritual Adults...

A wedding Celebrant... An HONOR bestowed upon me once upon a time at thetop of a mountain in the Colorado Rockies by 2 souls who recognized something hiding in me that was in alignment with their desire for a ceremony unbound by any religious traditions, yet captured the essence of a WEDDING and a MARRIAGE.

The results, posted here, represent a fantastic and humbling exercise in birthing these words into material reality, attempting to fit the occasion, the location and LOVE.

..."We have gathered here to witness and participate in a celebration of love.

We stand together with a bride and a groom, with Marika and Kyle, as examples of the greatest aspirations of MAN, of each of us.

And that aspiration is to love, is to know love and to become love… through the most difficult circumstances and in the most trying of times… and to shine the rays of love all the days of our lives.

To love is to feel connected.
We come to this fabulous place called Earth to learn to bear the beams of love. And to the degree that we love we acquire substance.
In this great quest to become love and acquire substance, we arrive at  the threshold of spiritual maturity, where spiritual adults can be united, and in that union, the power of love is amplified.

Today, we recognize in Marika and Kyle, a quality that is reflected in our surroundings, and in that reflection we become one with them in this moment.

One knowing glimpse of the world around us at any single instant of time is sufficient to fill us with profound awe and a feeling of worship.

Thought is Measurement...

Now, thought is measurable, and I do not know if you have noticed, or reflected on it, that the West is the explosion of Greece, which thought in terms of measure. For the Greeks, mathematics, logic, philosophy—all the things they discovered, which exploded in the West...

are the result of measurement, which is thought.

Does this interest you? Because without an understanding of the whole machinery of thought, its meditation has no meaning. So unless you really understand, have a deep insight into the whole machinery of thinking, you cannot possibly go beyond it..
tremendous significance, and where it becomes utterly destructive,

And in the East, India exploded over the whole of Asia, not among today’s Indians but among the ancient Indians. Today’s Indians are just like Westerners: romantic, vulgar, superstitious, frightened, grabbing money, wanting position, power, prestige; all that business that goes on all over the world, only they are a different color, have a different climate, a partially different morality.

But the ancient Indians said:

 measurement is illusion,

because when you can measure something it is very limited, and if you base all your structure, morality, and existence on measurement, which is thought, then you can never be free. Therefore they said, at least according to what I have observed, that the
immeasurable is the real and the measurable is the unreal, which they call maya.

Logic is Man-Made...

Thinking, Rational, Reasoning Minds... try not to be offended by this. And don't shoot the messenger.

Osho:  "I have told you that;

a woman is to be loved, not understood.

That is the first understanding: life is so
mysterious that our hands cannot reach to its heights, our eyes cannot look into its deepest mystery. Understanding any expression of existence – men or women or trees or animals or birds – is the function of science, not of a mystic. I am not a scientist. To me science itself is a mystery, and now scientists have started to recognize it. They are dropping their old stubborn, superstitious attitude that one day they will know all that is to be known.

With Albert Einstein the whole history of science has taken a very different route because the more he went into the deepest core of matter, the more he became puzzled. All logic was left behind, all rationality was left behind. You cannot dictate to existence, because it does not follow your logic.

Logic is man-made.

There was a point in Albert Einstein's life when he remembers that he was wavering about whether to insist on being rational...but that would be foolish. It would be human, but not intelligent. Even if you insist on logic, on rationality, existence is not going to change according to your logic; your logic has to change according to existence. And the deeper you go, existence becomes more and more mysterious.

A point comes when you have to leave logic and rationality and just listen to nature. I call it the ultimate understanding – but not in the ordinary sense of understanding. You know it, you feel it, but there is no way to say it.

Man is a mystery, woman is a mystery, everything that exists is a mystery – and all our efforts to figure it out are going to fail."

GOOD FRIDAY - EASTER

Lecture by Neville
(Circa 1954 Edited by Jan McKee)

You know the story of Good Friday. A man is in a garden. Its night time. And one called Judas comes in search of him, seemingly to betray him. He comes into the garden, and its dark, so he asks the simple question, "Where is Jesus?" Then the voice in the dark answered, "I AM HE." We are told in the story they all fell to the ground. When they regained their composure they asked the same question, "Where is Jesus?" Again the voice answered, "I have told you that I AM HE." This time Judas kisses him and the voice said to him, "Now that you have found me, let all else go, but do not let Me go, and what you have to do, do quickly." Then Judas goes out and commits suicide.

Now when you read the story you might think that that drama took place in a garden. No. That drama must TAKE place in the mind of man. For this is all about re-birth. It takes a man, a normal man, a man of sense, but hidden in that man and bound hand and foot is the second man that rebirth loosens and lifts up, and that second man is God. So the mystery is all self, and he uses the word "mystery" no less than 18 times. He asked those in the Corinthians to esteem him as a steward of mystery. Then he said, "Great is the mystery, God was manifest in the flesh." Then he spoke of the greatest of all mysteries, the one hidden from the foundation of the world, "Christ in you is the hope of glory." Christ IN man. Not Christ in the pages of history, but God IN man must be awakened, and this is the technique by which he is awakened.

Now come closely with me and let me take you into the garden of your own mind. Right now just imagine you are in a sick room of some wonderful hospital, a ward. You see the case history. You heard the verdict of the doctor, and the man, seemingly, is dying. What would save that man from such a verdict? What would save him? A state of health by which he would rise from that bed and become a normal, healthy person in this world; that would save him. Now, look into your minds eye and define carefully the solution of a particular problem. When you define the solution to the problem, do you know what you are actually seeing? You are seeing Jesus, for Jesus means "to save." So the state that would save that man from what he is, is the state of health. That is his savior.

...That You Are God

..."To know that you are God, is another way of saying that you feel completely with this universe.
That in your seeing, your hearing, your talking, your thinking, your moving, you express that which it is that moves the sun and other stars." (Alan Watts)
You feel profoundly rooted in it and connected with it. You feel, in other words, that the whole energy, which expresses itself in the galaxies, is intimate. It is not something to which you are a stranger, but it is that with which you, whatever that is, are intimately bound up.

We are Earth...

We do not "come into" this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree.

As the ocean "waves," the universe "peoples." Every individual is an expression of the whole realm of nature, a unique action of the total universe.

This fact is rarely, if ever, experienced by most individuals. Even those who know it to be true in theory do not sense or feel it, but continue to be aware of themselves as isolated "egos" inside bags of skin.
You are not a stranger here.
~ Alan Watts

If You Watch Your Own Mind...

Words and their concepts have led us away from reality and and that is the Prodigal Journey (click to read post). Now, there are some words to lead you back to yourself and Krishnamurti has done the best job of it. However, here he makes it really clear that words are not neccessary for your return, and that words are probably a hinderance for most of us.

Can you get your mind out of words?
It's called, "Visualization" or "Imagination", and uses a different part of the mind.
We suggest you give it a try!

Questioner:
How did you learn all that you are talking about, and how can we come to know it?

KRISHNAMURTI:
That is a good question, is it not? Now, if I may talk about myself a little, I have not read any books
about these things, neither the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, nor any psychological books; but as I told you, if you watch your own mind, it is all there.

So when once you set out on the journey of self-knowledge, books are not important. It is like entering a strange land where you begin to find out new things and make astonishing discoveries; but, you see, that is all destroyed if you give importance to yourself.

The moment you say, “I have discovered, I know, I am a great man because I have found out this and that,” you are lost. If you have to take a long journey, you must carry very little; if you want to climb to a great height, you must travel light.

So this question is really important, because discovery and understanding come through self-knowledge, through observing the ways of the mind. What you say of your neighbour, how you talk, how you walk, how you look at the skies, at the birds, how you treat people, how you cut a branch—all these things are important,

because they act like mirrors that show you as you are

and, if you are alert, you discover everything anew from moment to moment.

The Wile E. Coyote of Consciousness... Ahriman

By Tim Che'
All things are TRUE.
Because TRUTH is not dependent upon anything outside the perceiver of TRUTH. Hence, a true judgment need not conform to the external facts to which it relates.

And all things are in BALANCE

Our Mental image of the psychic embodiment of perfection and Grace is an idea personified in the word "Christ".

It's opposite, would be named, Satan, or Lucifer, or, in this discussion Ahriman.

Ahriman is the name that the Mystic, Anthroposophist, Rudolf Steiner, gives to his psychic impression of evil. I recently came across this information through the Dark Journalist YouTube channel, "X-Series" (Click link), which we highly recommend.

Steiner's Sculpture of Ahriman

Now, I do not pretense as any kind of authority on Anthroposophy, and Steiner makes a distinction between Ahriman and Lucifer. But Fear is Fear, and fear looks like evil, in whatever form we assemble it into from our conditioned mind.

This personification of Steiner's fear, Ahriman, has allegedly created a trap for the innocent, and the deceived, called the 8th Sphere. It is alleged that this trap is set to keep us indefinitely recycling in a world that seems very much like this one so that we do not spiritually advance to the higher dimensional realities.

Now, Steiner's subconscious personifications are universal and not unique. And although it sounds, and looks scary, it has no power over the spiritually awake.

Hence our comparison of Ahriman to "Wile E. Coyote" in the classic "Road Runner" cartoons.

The spiritually awake would be the Road Runner. For the UN-initiated to the cartoon... The Road Runner is always breezing through the cartoon world with ease while the Coyote is endlessly scheming of complicated ways to catch him. The Road Runner is completely unconcerned with Coyote's antics and NEVER seems to get caught up in the traps.
